EDMOND, OK – Oklahoma Senior Follies recently held a ribbon cutting with the Edmond Area Chamber of Commerce to celebrate their return to Edmond.
Bobbie Burbridge Lane is the founder of Oklahoma Senior Follies. Bobbie was asked to entertain at the Dallas Senior Follies. She was amazed at the phenomenal audience response to the show and decided she must start an Oklahoma Senior Follies. The first show was in 2010 at Oklahoma City University (OCU) and was directed by Dr. David Heredeen. Jody Miller, Jane Hall, John Ferguson, and Charlotte Franklin were some of the well-known performers of stage, television, and movies. On April 21, 2016, they received their 501 (c) (3) approval. Since that time, the Board has overseen its operations. Currently, there are 11 professional individuals on the Board.
The Follies has performed 12 times. They were unable to perform in 2020 due to COVID-19. Oklahoma Senior Follies performed at UCO in 2021 wearing masks during the performance as the Federal Government had not yet lifted its mandate on wearing masks at universities. The Follies patiently waited for UCO to complete their renovations of the Mitchell Hall Theater, and now they are excited to be back in Edmond where they hope to make it their permanent performance home. The shows include headline performers as well as talented seniors who are 55 or older. Last year the headliners Edgar Cruz and Kevin Ogle were the Follies’ Kings.
