Cycle 66 celebrated its continued growth as a signature community event with a ribbon cutting in Edmond, joined by Chamber staff and Ambassadors. Cycle 66 and the upcoming race seek to bring together local businesses, cyclists, families and visitors from across the region.
The ribbon cutting kicked off the countdown to the Cycle 66 Centennial Ride, scheduled for October 4, 2026. Located just steps from the Start/Finish line, the celebration highlighted Cycle 66’s growing role in bringing the community together through cycling, local partnerships and regional tourism.
The Centennial Ride will offer cyclists five routes along historic Route 66, ranging from 20 to 100 miles. Riders can choose from routes to Arcadia, Luther, Wellston, Chandler or Stroud, with all rides starting and finishing in Downtown Edmond. A free 1-mile kids’ ride will also be available for children ages 12 and under.
In addition to the distance rides, Cycle 66 will host The Crit @ Cycle 66, a closed-course cycling race through the streets of Downtown Edmond from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event has been designated as the USA Cycling 2026 Oklahoma Criterium State Championship and is free for spectators.
As riders and racers cross the shared finish line on Broadway between 1st Street and Main Street, spectators can enjoy the finish line festival atmosphere while shopping and dining at Downtown Edmond businesses.
Cycle 66 donates registration fees to local charities, with proceeds from the 2026 event benefiting the Oklahoma Route 66 Association and YMCA. Funds provided to the YMCA will support a borrow-a-bike program at the new Kupiec East Edmond YMCA, opening November 16.
General registration for Cycle 66 is $66 and includes a T-shirt. Registration and additional event information are available at www.Cycle66ok.com.
