EDMOND, OK – Civil Air Patrol held a ribbon cutting with the Edmond Area Chamber of Commerce to celebrate their business at Ribbon Rendezvous.
The Civil Air Patrol (CAP) is a congressionally chartered, federally funded 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation that serves as the civilian auxiliary of the U.S. Air Force. Established on December 1, 1941, to mobilize the nation’s civilian aviation resources for national defense, CAP has evolved into a premier public service organization and a cost-effective force multiplier for Air Force-assigned missions.
Operating across all 50 states, Puerto Rico (including the U.S. Virgin Islands), and the District of Columbia, CAP is active in more than 1,400 communities nationwide. Its aviation-connected volunteers represent a diverse group of professionals committed to service, education, and community engagement.
Guided by its core values of integrity, volunteer service, excellence, and respect, CAP fosters an inclusive environment that emphasizes opportunity based on ability, participation, and performance.
Through character and leadership programs for cadets and aerospace education initiatives for K–12 students, CAP delivers innovative youth development experiences and award-winning STEM and aviation education resources.
Equipped with mission-ready aircraft, an expanding Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) fleet, advanced communications networks, imaging technology, and geospatial analysis tools, CAP provides essential support for search and rescue, disaster relief, and homeland security missions.
As it continues to grow, the Civil Air Patrol remains a force for good—strengthening communities, supporting the nation, and inspiring future generations through service and innovation.
