Oklahoma Young Professional Leaders Launch Statewide Organization

Posted on 10/02/2013

Building on a successful statewide conference in 2012, several young professional groups from across the state have come together to launch “Oklahoma Young Professional Leaders” (OKYPL).

The goal of the organization is three fold: Leadership Training and Development, Political Awareness and Activism, and Professional Networking; all with the end goal of retaining Oklahoma’s up-and-coming generation to prepare them as the future leaders of our great state.

OKYPL is proud to partner with the Lieutenant Governor’s office once again this year for the second annual “Lt. Governor’s Young Professionals Conference.” This year’s conference is scheduled for Thursday, October 17, 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., at the Cox Convention Center.

“The feedback from last year’s conference was so amazing,” Angie Johnson, OKYPL chair said. “The energy was great, the people were engaged, and the desire to take the next step was there.”

OKYPL is for Oklahoma professionals, ages 21-40 that are interested and engaged in their communities, and interested in expanding their reach across the state.

Activities promoting the organization’s three main areas of focus are currently being planned. Most OKYPL events will be included with a paid membership of $100 annually.

Events will include a Day at the State Capitol, Leadership Training, networking opportunities and others to be determined. Sponsorships for these events are available.

You can register for this year’s conference at http://www.ok.gov/ltgovernor/. A special price for OKYPL members is being offered. Members will be able to attend the conference for $50. The regular price is $75.
