Edmond Chamber of Commerce Announces 2013 Annual Awards Winners

The Edmond Area Chamber of Commerce hosted the 2013 Annual Awards Banquet to honor the achievements and contributions of many of Edmond’s finest companies and citizens. The banquet was held at the University of Central Oklahoma’s Nigh University Ballroom on January 24, 2014. More than 350 members of the Edmond community attended the event presented by Edmond Electric with Isabella and Echelon as the Wine Sponsors, Cox Business Services as the Dessert Sponsor and Oklahoma Natural Gas as the Silver Sponsor. AT&T hosted a VIP reception prior to the event. The theme of the evening was “Puttin’ on the Ritz”.


Mercy Health Ambassador of the Year

Edmond Chamber Ambassadors are a group of dedicated volunteers who mentor Chamber members, attend ribbon-cuttings, events and special meetings. The honor of Ambassador of the Year is awarded to the Chamber Ambassador who is able to make the highest number of goodwill calls, ribbon-cuttings and groundbreaking events throughout the year. The award is decided on a point based system with participants earning points by their involvement. Charles Oliver with Wells Fargo Advisors was named 2013 Ambassador of the year. 


Integris Health Edmond Volunteer of the Year

The Edmond Chamber has many volunteers that are a part of many councils, task forces, programs and events. Pam Gonzaque, Allegiance Credit Union, was named 2013 Volunteer of the Year for her leadership and dedication to the Edmond Chamber as well as the community. Gonzaque serves on the Edmond Chamber’s Board of Directors and participates in the annual Total Resource Campaign. She is also an Ambassador of the Chamber. This year, she worked tirelessly on the 2013 Auction. She is also a regular attendee of most networking events.


Tayo Fichtl Young Professional Award presented by OU Medical Center Edmond

Bryan Evans, Evans & Davis, was the winner of the 2013 Tayo Fichtl Young Professional Award. This award is given to a young professional who demonstrates leadership, provides valuable service to their business or profession, gives back to their community, exhibits initiative and creativity and serves as a role model for young people, both personally and professionally.

Evans served on the Board of Directors for the Edmond Chamber, the Community Oriented Policing Leadership Counsel with the City of Edmond and was President of the Edmond Public Schools Foundations for the 2012-2013 academic year.


Chairman’s Award

The Chairman’s Award was a special honor given by the 2013 Edmond Chamber Chairman of the Board, Darin Kent, Regent Bank. This award was given to the person who contributed the most to the Chairman’s term. Kent presented the 2013 Edmond Chamber Chairman’s Award to Morris “Hoot” Gibson, McCalls.


Bank of Oklahoma Small Business of the Year

The Small Business of the Year Award, now in its 12th year, honors small businesses that have made outstanding contributions to the economy and community. Nominees must be an owner/partner/major shareholder of the business and must be active in the day-to-day management and operation of the business. The business should also display leadership in business and community affairs, be actively involved in professional and/or trade associations and maintain equal opportunity employment.

The Bank of Oklahoma Small Business of the Year finalists were recognized by a video presentation of the three finalists: chirps & cheers, Madeline’s Flower Shop, Millie’s Table and Red Rock Consulting. 

The 2013 Small Business of the Year Award was given to Millie’s Table. Millie’s Table maintains a take-n-bake freezer and offer buffet style as well as service-focused catering, at a fair price. A healthy menu selection of 22 entrees is always available, along with 12 other featured entrees. As their catering continues to grow, the store has been reconfigured to expand the kitchen, still leaving plenty of room for small gatherings.


Prosperity Bank’s Woman of the Year

The Prosperity Bank’s Woman of the Year award had four finalists. Finalists included: Shannon Davies, Lester, Loving & Davies; Beth Kerr, University of Central Oklahoma; Jill Castilla, Citizens Bank of Edmond; and Di Smalley, Mercy Heatlh.  Jill Castilla was the recipient of the 2013 Prosperity Bank’s Woman of the Year. Castilla was recognized for her impact on Edmond and her role as mentor to other female Citizens employees. Last year, she was personally named one of the Most Influential Community Bankers on Social Media and additionally Citizens was  named as one of the Most Influential Banks in Social Media. She sits on the boards of the Oklahoma Bankers Association and the Community Bankers Association of Oklahoma.
