December in Edmond brings special memories: family time, fun activities with friends, sweater weather, celebrating traditions and … colorful lights!
Edmond has the unique tradition of inviting citizens and visitors to stroll through lights at Mitch Park to see large one-of-a-kind holiday displays. Other cities have lights…but our lights are walkable, elegantly arranged among trees, and include 3D characters, symbols and words. Every year a committee of community leaders thoughtfully discuss new displays to add to our interactive stroll. Five organizations have invested their time, talents and money into Luminance for different reasons, but with the same goal of elevating Edmond’s holiday lights – Edmond Electric, Mitch Park YMCA, Edmond Economic Development Authority, City of Edmond and the Edmond Area Chamber of Commerce.
The 2022 sponsors for Luminance are:
Twinkle
- CEC
- Crossings Community Church
- Elliot
Glow
- Francis Tuttle
- Spring Creek Assembly
Shimmer
- Bancfirst
- Prosperity Bank
Without our wonderful founding sponsors and current seasonal sponsors, Luminance would not be as magical!
This year we have two community event nights: Friday, November 18th and Saturday, December 17th.
On Friday, November 18th, visitors can expect Santa & friends, food trucks, Merry Marketplace, two face painters, live music, and a grand countdown to turn the lights on together for the first time of the season.
On December 17th, visitors can expect Santa & friends, food trucks, Merry Marketplace, and a community art project held through the Fine Arts Institute.
Lights will be on every night from November 18- January 1st, 5-10pm daily.
