Oklahoma Proton Center
Oklahoma Proton Center recently held a ribbon cutting with the Edmond Area Chamber of Commerce to celebrate their grand re-opening at 5901 West Memorial Road in Oklahoma City.
Oklahoma Proton Center (formerly the ProCure Proton Therapy Center) is one of just 30 proton therapy centers in the country and one of only 5 in the southwest. It opened as the 6th proton center in the country in 2009 and has been a leader in the field for the past decade. Nearly 3,000 patients have traveled from around the world including from 38 different states to Oklahoma City for state-of-the-art treatment at the facility.
The doctors at the center use proton therapy, the most precise form of radiation treatment available for cancer, to effectively treat patients while reducing unnecessary treatment related side effects. Proton therapy is often the best treatment option for a variety of diagnoses including breast, prostate, lung, head and neck, brain, esophageal, and other cancers. The 60,000 square foot facility is adjacent to the INTEGRIS Cancer Institute (ICI). The physicians at Oklahoma Proton Center work closely with doctors at ICI to provide personalized and comprehensive cancer care for patients.
