Erick Harris –

In 2024, Erick Harris was elected to represent House District 39 in the Oklahoma House of Representatives. In the House, Erick serves as Assistant Majority Whip, and Vice-Chair of the Appropriations & Budget Judiciary Subcommittee and the Judiciary and Public Oversight Criminal Judiciary Subcommittee. He also serves on the Presiding Officer Team for the 60th Oklahoma Legislature. 

Erick is Vice President for Legal Services and General Counsel for United Petroleum Transports, Inc. Prior to entering private practice, Harris worked as an Assistant Attorney General for the Oklahoma Attorney General’s Office. He previously taught American Government at the University of Central Oklahoma for nearly 10 years as an adjunct professor.

He obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree from Tuskegee University and served as student body president. Harris later earned a law degree and a Master’s in Public Administration from the University of Oklahoma. While in law school, he served as editor-in-chief of a law review. Harris holds a license to practice law in Oklahoma and Texas as well as the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals. Erick serves on Tuskegee University’s board of trustees and is a member of the Republican National Lawyers Association. He is a proud member of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation of Oklahoma.

Erick is a lifelong resident of Oklahoma and resides in Edmond with his wife, Melissa, and their two children, Olivia and Erick II. They are members of Northeast Missionary Baptist Church.

What famous celebrity would you play your character in your life’s movie? Simon Bassett (he played the Duke of Hastings on Bridgerton).

Share one interesting fact with the public that they may not know about you? I love hunting and fishing. I went noodling on the Red River and got a 45+ catfish. Alligator hunting in Louisiana is next.

What is your “signature dance move?” The Monkey Man—think Johnny Bravo.  

If you had to describe your dancing style in one word, what would it be? Electric

What are you most look forward to about the Edmond’s Dancing with the Stars event and supporting the Edmond Chamber of Commerce? Showcasing everything great about the Edmond community. Plus, I get to show my wife that, between us, I have the better dance moves!
