Edmond Chamber Awarded 5-Star Accreditation by U.S. Chamber of Commerce
The U.S. Chamber of Commerce has awarded the Edmond Area Chamber of Commerce with 5-Star Accreditation for its sound policies, effective organizational procedures, and positive impact on the community. This prestigious honor puts the organization among the top 1% of chambers nationwide.
“We are elated at the news that we have received a 5-Star rating from the U. S. Chamber. In many ways, this validates the progress we have made in serving our members and our community over the past five years,” said Ken Moore, President and CEO of the Edmond Chamber.
“With the recommendations offered to us by the U. S. Chamber, we are committed to continual improvement and we will strive to meet the expectations of a 5-Star organization. Recognition goes to a Board of Directors that supports our goals and objectives and a professional staff that has worked so hard to help us receive this special honor.”
Of the nearly 7,000 chambers of commerce in the United States, only 213 are accredited by the U.S. Chamber. The Edmond Area Chamber of Commerce is one of only 102 5-Star accredited chambers of commerce in the country.
Accreditation is the only national program that recognizes chambers for their effective organizational procedures and community involvement. The process of accreditation evaluates the following nine areas of operations: governance, finance, human resources, government affairs, program development, technology, communications, facilities and benchmarking.
Accreditation is valid for a period of five years. In 2010, the Edmond Area Chamber of Commerce received a 4-Star rating. Local chambers are rated Accredited, 3-Stars, 4-Stars, or 5-Stars. State chambers are recognized as either Accredited State Chamber or Accredited State Chamber with Distinction. The final determination is made by the Accrediting Board, a committee of U.S. Chamber board members.
