Earlier this week, Edmond Young Professionals (EYP) hosted Scott Fischer, CEO of Dippin' Dots, at it's bi-monthly Leadership Latte Speaker Series. A native to Edmond, Scott shared his story on how he got to where he is now and provided young professionals with insight into his leadership role in the company and challenges he encountered while developing the international brand.

The discussion was held at The Brew, a new coffee shop located on Oklahoma Christian's campus. Over 30 EYP members and guests gathered in the coffee shop to hear from Scott. Prior to his presentation, the EYP Steering Committee met with new members to review the program and answer any questions they had about membership.

Scott spoke to young professionals for about an hour and answered thoughtful questions from the audience. When asked about advice on how young professionals can continue to grow and improve as leaders in Oklahoma, Scott said, "Get out of your box. Oklahoma is awesome but make sure you experience other things and learn about other cultures and societies. I learned this especially when traveling to areas all over the world while I developed the Dippin' Dots brand."

As a young business owner, Scott shared his struggle of learning how to manage time with his passion. "When I was young, I had so much passion for this company that I let it take over my life. I had to learn how to take some time to focus on other hobbies and interests outside of the company. I hired a life coach and learned how to be more efficient with my passion."

Scott travels regularly to company headquarters in Kentucky as well as traveling international to grow the brand. Even with his busy schedule, he still stays involved in the community that he grew up in. In addition to sponsoring the EYP program, he is involved with Susan G. Komen and is on the board for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Oklahoma.

When asked about his future plans with Dippin' Dots, he responded, "I'm having too much fun with it. I don't plan on leaving any time soon."
