Jordan Spencer is in the financial planning industry, where he helps individuals, families, and businesses plan for what they want life to look like in 30-40 year time horizon, and bring that reality into the present. He enjoys seeing the impact his industry has on future generations and works for the significance of others. EYP is lucky to have a member like Jordan who is willing to serve the Edmond community with such dedication.

Jordan has been happily married to Anne for 2.5 years now and enjoys spending time with their new puppy Lollie.

Can you tell us a little bit about your industry and what your favorite aspect of work is?

The two sides of the coin are 1) wealth accumulation (growing your money), and 2) risk management (protecting/keeping your money).

My favorite part to this field is the significance of our work. We help people have a worry-free retirement with an income they can’t outlive, protecting peace of mind. We can help people have a continuous income even if they aren’t working because of illness or injury, protecting their dignity. We can protect the innocents (family, employees) when a loved one prematurely leaves this world, protecting their independence. We can have an impact upon generations of people who haven’t even been born yet. In a world that cares about the perception over substance, what we do isn’t sexy but is deeply needed. Our value always presents itself in time.

Pets: Lollie (a Cairn Terrier & Chihuahua mix). Rescued her last year and she is by far the cutest dog we’ve ever seen. Sorry you other Edmond puppies. Better luck next time. #actuallydonteventry

Favorite Hobby/pastime outside of work: Being with Anne and Lollie, reading, taking trips outdoors. Any time spent with Anne really. Doesn’t matter when or where.

What is your favorite song? Beautiful Day by U2. It’s about losing everything and still finding joy that transcends this life. Do not listen to that song if you are at a low point or else you’ll play it on loop for hours.

What do you like best about serving as a member of the EYP Steering Committee? I love learning more about the City, its businesses, and its people. I want to see it grow and help deepen its roots because of our work with EYP.

What is one thing you want to accomplish before you die? I want the world to know that my life was marked by love: love for my God, love for Anne, love for my family, and my love for serving others.

What is your favorite quote?

“God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.

Living one day at a time;
enjoying one moment at a time;
accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
taking, as He did, this sinful world
as it is, not as I would have it;
trusting that He will make all things right
if I surrender to His Will;
that I may be reasonably happy in this life
and supremely happy with Him
forever in the next.
Amen.”
