Tom Friedemann
Tom Friedemann, Superintendent/CEO of Francis Tuttle Technology Center, is a native of Stillwater, Oklahoma and has served in the field of career and technology education for thirty-nine years.
Friedemann received a Bachelor of Science in marketing education from the Oklahoma State University; earning his Master’s degree at the University of Central Oklahoma; and his Doctorate in occupational and adult education from the Oklahoma State University.
He began his career as a high school marketing education teacher-coordinator experiencing state and national recognition for his DECA Chapters. Later he served as Curriculum Specialist, State DECA Advisor, Assistant State Supervisor for marketing education, Assistant State Coordinator of area schools, State Coordinator and Assistant State Director during his employment with the Oklahoma Department of Career and Technical Education (ODCTE).
He has also served as Director of Student Services and Assistant Superintendent at Great Plains Technology Center in Lawton, OK.
Since his employment with Francis Tuttle in 1997, he has served as Associate Superintendent, Deputy Superintendent, Chief of Staff before being named Superintendent/CEO July 1, 2009.
Friedemann is a graduate of Leadership Oklahoma and Leadership Oklahoma City. He is a member of the Academy for State Goals; past president of the Oklahoma Career Tech Foundation; Fiscal Officer of the Oklahoma Career Tech Administrative Council; past president of the Oklahoma Council of Local Administrators; past president of the Payne County OSU Alumni Association; and past president of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Oklahoma City. He currently serves as president of the National Council of Local Administrators; and chairman of the Oklahoma Career Tech Foundation Minority Scholarship Committee.
For his outstanding contributions to the field of career and technology education, in August, Tom received the Arch Alexander Award, presented by the University of Oklahoma and one of the highest awards given in career and technology education. He was the recipient of the Administrator of the Year Award for outstanding educational leadership given by the Oklahoma Association of School Administrators District Assistant Superintendent/Central Office. In 2005, Tom was selected to The Journal Record’s “Oklahoma’s Best Dressed” list
Friedemann has authored numerous manuscripts on career and technology education with many being featured in publications such as: The Journal of Correctional Education, Corrections Today, The Vocational Education Journal, Techniques, The Oklahoma Observer and Distinctly Oklahoma magazine.
